Key Responsibilities:
Under the general supervision of the Manager
of Library Services, or delegate, the Library Clerk performs a variety
of clerical functions associated with the efficient operations of a
Health Science Library. In a team environment, this position provides
assistance and support to the Library Assistants and to the Library
Manager. The Library Clerk is responsible to ensure that the library is
in good working order – that material is shelved and that equipment is
working properly.

Qualifications:
- Grade XII plus one year library experience
- Medical Terminology
- Demonstrated knowledge of library classification systems and medical
databases
- Basic computer skills (word processing, familiarity with Internet
and InMagic/DBTextworks, Docline)
- Typing 35wpm
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Customer service courses an asset
- Ability to be tactful and helpful
- Co-ordination, organization and decision making abilities must be
present
- Ability to take initiative, learn and work quickly; adaptable to
change
- Demonstrated attention to detail to ensure maintenance of data
integrity
- Ability to function independently and as a member of a team
- Must be able to lift/move books weighing up to 20 lbs

Hours Of Work:
- Permanent Part-time (.5) position; 35 hours bi-weekly
- Monday - Friday; 0830-1200
|
Salary Range:
Clerk B: $14.3720 - $15.6743
hourly $503.02 - $548.60 bi-weekly (approx.)

This is a NSGEU Bargaining Unit Position.
Preference will be given to bargaining unit applicants for unionized
