Library UPEI.

Systems Librarian
Term Replacement
The University of Prince Edward Island, Robertson Library is
seeking applications for a Systems Librarian for one year term. The
successful candidate will be responsible for post-implementation
and ongoing management, development, and operation of UPEI's
recently migrated SIRSI integrated library system. This person will:
• prepare for and upgrade to new versions of the SIRSI Unicorn
system
• provide appropriate staff training, consultation, and documentation
• provide overall system direction for the Library in the upcoming
year in
consultation with colleagues and University Librarian
• initiate and follow-up troubleshooting/developmental queries with
SIRSI
• organize meetings when/where appropriate with library staff and
campus
personnel to implement, correct, or improve library system
services
• sit on the Library's internal web development team to
provide direction and
input
• perform troubleshooting on computer/system/server problems as
they
arise
• coordinate ordering of computer and computer peripherals in the
Library
• provide specialized ILS reports, as needed
• work in cooperation with Computer Services and other groups,
where
appropriate
In addition to the primary area of responsibility noted above, there may
be Atlantic Region academic initiatives (such as the Atlantic Scholarly
Information Network portal) which will need to be evaluated and/or
implemented during this upcoming year. This position would be directly
involved with such processes for the Robertson Library.
QUALIFICATIONS: An ALA accredited Masters Degree in Library
Science
REQUIREMENTS:
• demonstrated experience managing/implementing an integrated library
system such as SIRSI
• experience working in a client/server environment and with PCs
running
Windows 98 and XP
• ability to work within a team environment and handle divergent
perspectives
• a flexible, curious, and creative focus
• demonstrated instructional skills
• excellent verbal and written communication and organizational skills
ASSETS:
• knowledge of and experience with HTML and web page development
• experience working within an academic environment
TERM: One Year Term appointment : Starting August, 2004 – with the
possibility of an extension
RANK: Librarian II or III
SALARY: Commensurate with Education and Experience (pending
funding
approval)
