Speaker Biography:
Carol Goodson is currently Head of Library Access Services at the University of West Georgia, which is located 50 miles west of Atlanta. When first hired by West Georgia in 1991, her task was to create from scratch a new library support service for off-campus students. Although she had no previous experience in this particular subdivision of librarianship, she learned by doing–and enjoyed it so much that her primary area of professional specialization has become the provision of services for distance learners. She is the author of Providing Library Services for Distance Education Students (NY: Neal-Schuman, 2001).
Goodson holds BA and MLS degrees from the State University of New York at Buffalo, and an MA degree (English) from the University of West Georgia. Her website address is http://www.westga.edu/~cgoodson/
