Privacy and security are two critical issues facing libraries today. What are your responsibilities to ensure the privacy of users are protected while on your network? What are the best practices to ensure your library network is secure? What are effective strategies for securing Windows XP on public desktops? What new threats are emerging that you need to protect your library from? These questions and others will be answered in workshops featuring experts on security and privacy.

The afternoon will be divided into 2 streams. Attendees are free to attend sessions they feel are most relevant to their needs.
Stream 1: Primer on Security And Privacy
This stream is ideal for people who have a basic to intermediate knowledge of networks and security. Focused on the higher level, it will ensure participants have the big picture view of key issues and challenges facing libraries today.
Stream 2: Advanced Security Strategies
Aimed for staff working directly with your library networks. This stream will provide participants with the opportunity to explore security issues in more detail. Learn about effective strategies for securing public access computers, reducing network vulnerabilities.
