The Library seeks an energetic, team-oriented librarian with excellent technological skills, a strong service orientation, and an aptitude for instruction to fill the full-time, probationary position of Extended Services Librarian. Duties may include: • Reference services to students, staff, and faculty, on a regular schedule including one Sunday per month • Customized library instruction sessions, general library orientations, and one-on-one, in-depth research consultations. • Creation of research guides and publications (print and electronic) on specific topics. • Support for faculty in their development of courseware and/or resources to support courseware. • Virtual reference and outreach services to remote users of the Library. • Maintenance of the Library website, in consultation with other departments. • Development of digital resources or collections, in collaboration with colleagues. Qualifications: Candidates should hold an ALA-accredited Master of Library Science (or Library and Information Science) or equivalent. Experience in the following areas would be an asset: reference services using print and electronic resources, library instruction and orientation, website development and/or maintenance, development and creation of research guides, development of digital collections or resources, grant-writing an asset. Experience in an academic library would be a strong asset. Salary and benefits are in accordance with the Collective Agreement with the MSVU Faculty Association.
