Memorial University of Newfoundland at Corner Brook invites applicants for an 8.5 month term appointment in the University Library System Public Services Librarian Ferriss Hodgett Library Sir Wilfred Grenfell College Contractual Position from August 14, 2004 to April 30, 2005 QUALIFICATIONS The Ferriss Hodgett Library is seeking an energetic, outgoing individual with a commitment to academic librarianship. The successful candidate will have an ALA accredited graduate degree and the ability to communicate effectively in both written and oral modes. Familiarity with electronic information resources, Internet applications, database searching and computer applications are highly desirable. DESCRIPTION The major responsibilities are to provide reference, database searching and instruction. The successful applicant will participate in the planning, design, and delivery of instruction sessions and provide reference assistance. Other duties may include participating in the expansion of innovative reference services, collection development, and other library service duties. Some evening and weekend hours may be required. The Ferriss Hodgett Library of Sir Wilfred Grenfell College, is a member of the library system serving Memorial University of Newfoundland. Sir Wilfred Grenfell College is a small (1200 students) liberal arts and science institution, offering four-year bachelor's degrees in arts (English, environmental studies, historical studies, humanities, psychology and social/cultural studies), fine arts (visual arts and theatre), nursing and science (environmental science, general science, psychology). The College is located in the city of Corner Brook on Newfoundland's west coast. Corner Brook (population 20,000) is a very safe, friendly city with excellent recreational and cultural facilities. The city is situated approximately 80 kilometres from Gros Morne National Park (a UNESCO heritage site) and 10 kilometres from the Marble Mountain downhill ski resort.
