Reference Teleconference: Realities of Digital Reference: Challenges,
Tools, and Opportunities Part 2 - "Joe Janes and Colleagues: Preparing
for the Future of Digital Reference"

Join us at the Nova Scotia Provincial Library for Part 2 of the
satellite broadcast teleconference "Realities of Digital Reference:
Challenges, Tools, and Opportunities - Joe Janes and Colleagues:
Preparing for the Future of Digital Reference".  Richard Dougherty,
president of Dougherty and Associates, a library consulting firm, and
past director of the University of Michigan Library and the University
of California at Berkeley Library, will host a discussion which will
focus on how libraries can seize opportunities to make their reference
services central to the information lives of users.  Issues to be
discussed include privacy, collaboration, customer service, staff
training and organizational changes.

Panel members will include:

- Joe Janes, Associate Professor and Chair of Library and Information
Science, the Information School of the
         University of Washington and Founding Director of the Internet
Public Library

- Mary Anne Hodel, Director, Orange County Library (Orlando, FL)

- Joe Thompson, Project Coordinator, Maryland AskUsNow!

This session is part of the Distance Learning Program, College of
DuPage, Glen Ellyn, IL.

Following the live teleconference broadcast participants will have an
opportunity to hear Patrick Ellis, Coordinator, Reference Services at
the Kellogg Health Sciences Library, talk about changes and trends in
Health Sciences Information  Services.
