                     Suggest a Name for Our New Institution

                     On October 2, 2002, the Minister of Canadian Heritage
announced the
                     creation of a new knowledge institution, bringing
together the National
                     Archives of Canada and the National Library of Canada.
This new
                     institution is designed to offer Canadians throughout
the country greater
                     access to the diverse experiences and voices of Canada.
To describe
                     this new entity, the name Library and Archives of
Canada is currently
                     being used.

                     We are seeking your input on a new name for this
innovative and
                     forward-looking institution. All submissions will be
carefully considered
                     and taken into account as the process of creating the
new institution
                     moves forward. The final decision on the name of
institutions rests with
                     the Government of Canada.

                     Please write to us before January 31, 2003, with your
suggestions and a
                     short explanation of why your name should be considered
for Canada's
                     newest heritage and cultural institution. Our e-mail

                     Proposez un nom pour le nouvel
                     organisme

                     Le 2 octobre 2002, la ministre du Patrimoine canadien a
annoncé la
                     création d'un nouvel organisme du savoir en fusionnant
les Archives
                     nationales du Canada et la Bibliothèque nationale du
Canada. Ce
                     nouvel organisme vise à offrir aux Canadiennes et aux
Canadiens
                     partout au pays un meilleur accès aux expériences
diverses et aux
                     opinions émises au Canada. Le nom de la Bibliothèque et
des Archives
                     du Canada est actuellement employé afin de décrire
cette nouvelle
                     organisation.

                     Nous faisons appel à vos idées pour trouver un nouveau
nom à cet
                     organisme novateur et avant-gardiste. Toutes les
suggestions
                     présentées seront prises en considération avec soin et
comme faisant
                     partie du processus de création du nouvel organisme. La
décision finale
                     concernant le nom des institutions appartient toutefois
au gouvernement
                     du Canada.
