Laura, and the rest your mails are very timely and right. Indeed private initiatives are needed and many things can be changed without much of a budget like making webpages W3c (www.w3c.org) compliant. And private initiatives are needed as the courts in the USA seem to give the opposite signal by saying that the right to accessible internet material is not covered under the ADA (American with Disability Act) as the internet can't be viewed as a 'public place'. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Bioethics/message/5921 is a link to a message on the bioethics and disability network listserve also giving some hints but at least internetwise W3C gives a lot of help. And as more and more info is web based this area is very important. I haven't counted them but very few webpages as they relate to bioethics are W3C compliant A good sofware to work with is Macromedia Dreamweaver MX or Studio MX Cheers Gregor Dr. Gregor Wolbring webpage: http://www.bioethicsanddisability.org Founder and Executive director of the International Center for Bioethics,Culture and Disability Founder and Coordinator of the International Network on Bioethics and Disability; a Network supported by the International Association of Bioethics To subscribe to the Network go to http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Bioethics/join or send a blank e-mail to [log in to unmask] Biochemist at the Dept. of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology Faculty of Medicine University of Calgary,Alberta,Canada Adjunct Assistant Professor for bioethical issues at the Dept. of Community Rehabilitation and Disability Studies Faculty of Education University of Calgary, Alberta Canada Adjunct Assistant Professor with the John Dossetor Health Ethic Center, University of Alberta, Edmonton, Alberta, Canada Phone 1-403-220-5448 Fax 1-403-283-4740 e-mail [log in to unmask] Mailing address: Dr. Gregor Wolbring Dept. of Medical Biochemistry Faculty of Medicine University of Calgary 3330 Hospital Drive NW T2N 4N1 Calgary Alberta Canada
