SYSTEMS MANAGER - One Year Term position (July 2002 - June 2003)
JOB DESCRIPTION
Eastern Counties Regional Library is a public regional library serving
Inverness, Richmond and Guysborough Counties. We are seeking an energetic
individual to lead our Automated Systems and Technical Services
department. Reporting to the Acting Chief Executive Officer, the
successful candidate will be part of a 4 member management team. This is a
one year contract position.
The Systems Manager is responsible for the upkeep and development of the
library's Novell LAN/ EDNET WAN network, with 55 staff/public PC
workstations in a Win NT4/Win98/95 environment. He or she will provide
technical support for the DRA Multilis library system currently implemented
in all ECRL branch and mobile locations and will supervise technical
services operations. The Systems Manager also serves as the library
webmaster.
Employment is at library headquarters in Mulgrave with occasional travel
to branch libraries. A library vehicle is available for any work-related
travel.
REQUIREMENTS
• Degree from an ALA-recognized Masters of Library/Information Studies
program is preferred
(Other combinations of post-secondary studies and relevant
experience will be considered)
• Experience with Windows 2000/NT/95/98, including networking issues
• demonstrated knowledge of information systems
• knowledge of html and Web page design, experience with Front Page is an
asset
• knowledge of library technical services preferred
• prior experience in a supervisory capacity is an asset
• keyboarding skills (25 wpm)
• a valid driver's license is required
