Professional Librarian I -- Sabbatical Replacement Mount Saint Vincent University Library is seeking a Reference & Instructional Services Librarian 1 during a sabbatical leave. This is a 16 week (August 20 - December 7, 2001), 30 hours/week (Monday - Friday 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.) position, with a wage of approximately $17.50/hour. Reporting to the Head Librarian, the incumbent's primary responsibilities will include working regular reference shifts, and providing library instruction in a classroom setting and during one-on-one scheduled appointments. The incumbent will also assist with on-going projects which include at present: organization of electronic resources such as journals and statistical data, preparation and updating of library instruction documentation, and evaluation of electronic and print reference resources. This is an entry level position. Required is an ALA accredited MLIS with a background in the social sciences or humanities; academic reference and library instruction experience preferred; strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills; experience with a wide range of print reference sources and library computer applications; the ability to work successfully independently and as part of a team. The MSVU Library is a member of the Novanet library consortium which uses the Geac Advance library system. The Library has a variety of stand-alone and networked databases.
