We have an exciting opportunity at our Saint John campus library. Please share freely.
LIBRARIAN (SCIENCES LIAISON)
UNB SAINT JOHN LIBRARY (HANS W. KLOHN COMMONS)
Full details are available: http://www.unb.ca/hr/_resources/php/print-academic-posting.php?theid=YZyipQ==
Applications are invited for a tenure-track liaison librarian position at the UNB Saint John Library, housed within the Hans W. Klohn Commons. The appointment and rank will be made commensurate with qualifications and professional experience; classified at a Librarian II, III, or IV level. The position will commence as soon as possible after appointment, subject to budgetary approval.
The University of New Brunswick is the province’s largest university with over 10,000 students. Approximately 2000 of those are located on the Saint John campus, which celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2014. Library services are shared across two campuses, in Saint John and Fredericton. The UNB Saint John Library is staffed by three librarians and 8 FT support staff, within the context of a larger library system consisting of close to 90 employees – librarians, administrative and professional staff, and support staff. The Saint John campus is located in the Tucker Park area of Saint John, home to the Saint John Regional Hospital, Dalhousie University’s medical school (Dalhousie Medicine New Brunswick), and NBCC Allied Health.
UNB Saint John is seeking a highly collaborative and user-focused Librarian to serve as liaison primarily to the Faculty of Science, Applied Science and Engineering (faculty and students primarily in the areas of the sciences, health sciences, nursing, and additional areas). This position requires a librarian who is flexible and can balance various types of duties in a small academic library and thrives on opportunity. Within assigned areas, key responsibilities will include information literacy instruction; collections development; and preparation of subject guides and instructional materials. In addition, the successful candidate will conduct outreach and consult with colleagues on library services offered such as research data management, scholarly communication, copyright education and digital scholarship. The incumbent will serve on Library and University committees as appropriate, and will work closely with colleagues on the Fredericton campus.
Please contact me if you have any questions about the position.
Best regards,
Lesley
