Position: Course developer for MGMT 3603.03 - Beyond Google

Work Assignment:
The course developer will prepare a complete course description and
lesson plans by October 15, 2010 for presentation to the Bachelor of
Management Program Committee, including:
(1) A statement of learning objectives and outcomes indicating
how these will be achieved (during which class, and through what
assignments, etc.)
(2) A weekly syllabus with readings
(3) A statement of methods of assessment
(4) All assignment guidelines and assessment rubrics
(5) Explanation of how technologies will be used to support the
learning in the course
MGMT 3603.03 is a new required course for students completing the
Bachelor of Management major in Knowledge Management and is also an
open elective within the Bachelor of Management Program. It will be
offered for the first time in January 2011. The calendar description
for MGMT 3603.03 is as follows:
Contextually relevant information is essential to support decision making and
strategic planning by individuals, groups and organizations. This course
discusses the theory and practice of searching for information, from the level
of needs assessment though to systematically scanning through
electronic, print
and human sources efficiently, effectively and ethically. The use of
technologies to streamline search processes will be emphasized, as well as the
behavioural, affective and cognitive aspects of human information behaviour.
Requirements of the Position:
MLIS degree. Prior teaching and curriculum development experience
will be an asset . Some research experience in this area or a cognate
area will be helpful.
