Sending this on behalf of Jeannie An ( [log in to unmask] )
We are writing to you as co-chairs of WILU (Workshop for Instruction in
Library Use) 2010, which will take place at McMaster University in
Hamilton, from May 12 to 14, 2010.
Part of our responsibility as organizers of WILU 2010 is to find an
institution to host the event in 2011.
As you may know, WILU is the national conference on information
literacy. Traditionally, it moves from Western Canada to Central Canada
and then to Eastern Canada to allow as many librarians as possible to
attend the conference without incurring exorbitant travel costs. In
the past, the conference has focused on various IL themes: lesson
planning and delivery, learning theory, librarian-faculty relationships,
assessment, and learning technologies. WILU conference sites shift
from university to university across Canada and we hope your institution
will consider hosting WILU in 2011.
If you are interested in considering being the host for WILU 2011, or
at a future date, we would like to hear from you. We are a group of
librarians that have done this before and we would be happy to share our
experience with you. The work required to prepare a proposal is minimal.
The Steering Committee has extended the deadline to receive proposals
by Monday November 2, 2009. Information about the process is available
at:
http://wilu2010.blog.lib.mcmaster.ca/hosting-guidelines
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact either Karen
Nicholson or myself. We would be more than happy to provide further
information.
We look forward to hearing from you.
Thank you.
