The APLA sponsored "Games at the Library" will be held in libraries across Atlantic Canada during the week of October 18-24.  Anytime during this week libraries are encouraged to host a "game themed" event of their choice (board games, chess, trivia, scavenger hunts, video games, etc.).  Events can be geared towards specific age groups or the whole community.  Larger libraries may consider having separate events for kids, tweens & teens, or seniors. You are limited only by your imagination and energy levels!  Our goal is to show that libraries are places where people meet, learn, and have fun.

Preparations are well underway.  "Games at the Library" had its official launch at the June APLA Conference.  In early August, Hasbro Canada shipped copies of Pictureka and Scrabble.  Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island have already shipped out the games to all the public libraries in those provinces and now New Brunswick and Newfoundland are gearing up to distribute games to their libraries.
