Nous annonçons la gagnante du prix du Mérite

Le Merit Award (prix de Mérite) de l’Atlantic Provinces Library
Association est remis à tous les ans à quelqu’un qui a fait une
contribution exceptionnelle aux services des bibliothèques dans les
provinces de l’Atlantique. Nous sommes heureux d’annoncer que la
récipiendaire cette année est Madame Sylvie Nadeau, directrice
générale du Service des bibliothèques publiques du
Nouveau-Brunswick. Le prix a été présenté lors du congrès annuel qui a
eu lieu cette année à Halifax du 10 au 13 juin.

En tant que directrice générale du Service des bibliothèques publiques
du Nouveau-Brunswick (SBPNB), et grâce à sa vision, ses habilités de
leadership et sa croyance en l’équité et la transparence, Sylvie a
transformé le Service des bibliothèques de 5 sociétés d’État en une
organisation unifiée et bien structurée.

Sylvie a transformé le SBPNB. Pour mieux répondre aux besoins des
communautés, Sylvie a supervisé un projet provincial afin de créer des
profils des communautés desservies. Elle a depuis uniformisé
l’effectif des bibliothèques et elle a mis en œuvre une structure
de gestion cohérante pour toutes les bibliothèques publiques. Sylvie a
également établi un comité provincial qui a pour but d’améliorer le
développement et la livraison des services avec les suggestions des
employés et des communications améliorées.

Le temps que Sylvie a passé avec le SBPNB a aussi été marqué par
l’innovation. Elle a créé des partenariats avec des agences
provinciales et des organismes spécialisés pour développer des
collections uniques et des services innovateurs. De plus, Sylvie a mis
en œuvre un programme de stage pour les nouveaux bibliothécaires leur
donnant ainsi l’opportunité d’acquérir de l’expérience
professionnelle, d’être guidé par des collègues et de commencer leur
carrière au Nouveau-Brunswick.

Sylvie Nadeau a rendu les bibliothèques pertinentes et accessibles à
tous les citoyens du Nouveau-Brunswick et elle est digne de recevoir le
APLA Merit Award 2009.

Merit Award Winner Announced

The Atlantic Provinces Library Association (APLA) Merit Award is given
annually to someone who has made an outstanding contribution to library
services in the Atlantic Provinces. We are pleased to announce this
year’s recipient is Ms. Sylvie Nadeau, Executive Director of New
Brunswick Public Library Service. The award was presented at the annual
conference, held this year in Halifax June 10 – 13, 2009.

As Executive Director of the New Brunswick Public Library Service
(NBPLS), Sylvie’s clear vision, leadership skills and strong belief in
equity and transparency has been key in transitioning the Public Library
Service from 5 independent crown corporations into a unified, and
well-structured provincial organization.

Sylvie has transformed the New Brunswick Public Library Service. In
order to better respond to community needs, Sylvie oversaw a
province-wide project to profile the communities served. She has since
standardized library staffing, initiated a consistent management
structure for all provincial libraries, and established a provincial
committee aimed at improving the development and delivery of services,
providing for staff input and improved communication

Sylvie’s tenure with the NBPLS has also be one of innovation. She has
partnered with provincial agencies and specialized organizations to
develop unique collections and innovative services. As well, Sylvie
implemented an internship program for new librarians, providing them
with an opportunity to gain professional experience, be mentored by
colleagues and begin their careers in New Brunswick.

Sylvie Nadeau has made public libraries relevant and accessible to all
citizens of New B
runswick and is most deserving of the 2009 APLA Merit
Award.
