Announcement of keynote speaker and call for papers for
Collections 2009: Collections in times of innovation and change

The Collection Development & Management Interest Group (CDMIG) of the
Canadian Library Association is very pleased to announce that the
keynote speaker for Collections 2009 will be Carolyn Wood, the
Executive
Director of the Association of Canadian Publishers. She will be
speaking on *The long-term future of book publishing in Canada (at
least the next week and a half)*.
The keynote presentation is kindly sponsored by Blackwell Book
Services
Proposals are still being accepted for papers that deal with the theme
of *Collections in times of innovation and change* or other
collections-related topics. Each presentation should feature one or
two
speakers and be about 30 minutes in length. Papers with broad
applications or with applications to more than one library sector or
community of users will be given preference. Panel proposals will
also
be considered. Proposals will be reviewed by a committee of three
collections librarians.
The deadline for submission of proposals has been extended. It is now
March 6 2009

Preconference rates (unchanged since 2004) are:
CDMIG members: $80
CLA members: $100 (non-members of CDMIG)
non-CLA members: $125
Registration includes a morning coffee break (kindly sponsored by
Midwest Library Services), an afternoon coffee break (kindly sponsored
by Coutts Library Services), and lunch.
The registration deadline for Collections 2009 is April 17, 2009.
