Library Technician Position (Access and Document Delivery Services)
Contract Position: Full-time until April 30, 2009.
This position is currently under review and may become permanent upon yearly
review.
The library of Atlantic School of Theology requires an outgoing, enthusiastic
and highly organized person to manage and provide access and document delivery
services to our academic, professional and public communities. Responsibilities
include all aspects of lending, borrowing, patron registration and fees,
reserves and document delivery services, in a small, specialized academic
library.
Our library serves graduate students, faculty and individuals interested in
Christian theology, religious studies, and related academic disciplines. As a
member of the Novanet academic library consortium, our library coordinates our
lending and document delivery services and resources within a group of other
maritime academic libraries. The library staff work both independently and
cooperatively to provide an integrated, holistic library service dedicated to
furthering the educational mission of the Atlantic School of Theology

We are seeking a cooperative team-builder, who can work both independently and
as part of a team. You will be able to engage in analytical, big-picture
problem solving, while at the same time exercising consistent and accurate
attention to detailed work processes, within a context of frequently shifting
public service demands. The ideal candidate will enjoy people, will love
learning, and will love helping others to learn.
We also require someone who is competent, confident and effective in the use of
standard office computing applications such as MSWord and MS Excel; An ideal
candidate will have sufficient relevant training and work experience to be able
to master and manage a variety of automated library systems, including library
circulation, document delivery and information retrieval systems.
You will be a self-starter, committed to quality service and will be willing to
provide some public service during evenings and/or weekends.
Your credentials will include an undergraduate degree in a relevant humanities
discipline, a Library Technician Diploma and relevant work experience; or
another combination of higher education and experience that makes you an ideal
candidate for this position. Knowledge of relevant subject disciplines would be
an asset. Position is expected to be filled at Level 3, Step 1of the Atlantic
School of Theology staff salary scale.
