This is a bargaining unit position restricted to current civil service
employees represented by Nova Scotia Government Employees Union. All

Duties:
The Nova Scotia Provincial Library invites applications for the term
position of Public Library Consultant. Reporting to the Research and
Planning Librarian, the Public Library Consultant provides consultation
and support to Nova Scotia Public Libraries on services to various
public library user groups including families, seniors, youth, and the
pre school child. The public library consultant provides research into
best practises in library services to these user groups and identifies
and develops strategic partnerships with agencies who also serve these
user groups. The public library consultant will participate in the
revision of public library standards and the ongoing review of best
practises in this area.
Qualifications:
The successful candidate will have a Bachelor's Degree, plus post
graduate degree in Library Science, plus two years public library
experience. The successful candidate will have demonstrated leadership
skills and project management experience, strong organizational and
problem solving skills; demonstrated excellent verbal and written
communication skills as well as report writing experience. The
successful candidate will have demonstrated knowledge of current and
emerging library information technologies. Strong interpersonal and
communication skills, a strong customer service orientation, the ability
to work effectively in a team environment, and the ability to work with
multiple institutions in a collaborative environment are essential.
Public library experience is mandatory.
Classification Range: PR 12
Salary Range: $48,232 to $58,522

31,2009.
