Learn about the award-winning early literacy program, Mother Goose on
the Loose, when the Nova Scotia Provincial Library hosts The Education
Institute audio conference about it on February 27th. After a brief
review of theories of learning based on findings in brain research, Dr.
Betsy Diamant-Cohen, the creator of Mother Goose on the Loose, will
speak about the structure of the program and how it combines language,
books, illustration, music, movement, drama, and creative interaction to
create an optimal learning environment. Experience program songs and
rhymes created by Canadian music educator, Barbara Cass-Beggs. Connect
the program components with best practices for developing school
readiness skills. Learn how to incorporate all this into your own early
childhood programs.

Dr. Betsy Diamant-Cohen is the creator of Mother Goose on the Loose, an
early literacy program. In addition to holding a doctorate in
Communications Design, she also is a certified instructor for Barbara
Cass-Beggs' Your Baby Needs Music program. Dr. Diamant-Cohen runs MGOL
training workshops throughout the United States and is the Children's
Programming Specialist for the Enoch Pratt Free Library in Baltimore,
MD. Named a 'Mover and Shaker' by Library Journal in 2004, she has
recently published Mother Goose on the Loose (Neal-Schuman) which has
received a number of favorable reviews, including one from Library
Journal.
