THE WEEK OF DECEMBER 4th
________________________

Monday, Dec. 4th, 3-4pm ET (12-1pm PT)
Super Teaching: Think! Models for Instructional Improvement
with David Loertscher - 1 hour AUDIO CONFERENCE

Cut, paste, submit. Cut, paste, submit. Learners of all ages respond to assignments completing the reports and projects quickly but with little thinking and new learning. Teachers, professors, and professional developers cry plagiarism and deem this generation of learners bereft of ethics.

Turn passive learners into active learners - create thinkers who can explore, research, analyze and synthesize - build their own knowledge and understanding and become thoroughly engaged in personal and group learning.

Tuesday, Dec. 5th, 1-2pm ET (10-11am PT) - part of the TECH TUESDAYS: TALKING WITH TECHIES SERIES
The Ins and Outs of RSS: Really Simple Solutions
with Geoffrey Harder - 1 hour WEBCAST

Are you looking for quick, simple and efficient ways to read and filter information on the Net? Cover the basics of RSS, or Rich Site Summary/Really Simple Syndication, an XML-based technology that greatly alters the way people share and receive information via the Internet. Fuelled in large part by the ever-expanding community of bloggers, RSS has become widely available and is now one of the most frequently used XML applications on the Internet. RSS is ideal for: gathering and sharing new content from all over the Web; developing current awareness services and enhancing the delivery of up-to-date information for library users and staff. Participants will learn where to find RSS feeds, how to find and use on-line and desktop news aggregators, and even how to create RSS feeds for sharing library news and events.

Wednesday, Dec. 6, 6-7pm ET (3-4pm PT)Part of the EFFECTIVE LIBRARY BOARD SERIES
 Succession Planning... Isn't!
with Ken Haycock - 1 hour AUDIO CONFERENCE

There is much talk about succession planning and the impending crisis but no one seems to be taking it very seriously. Is succession planning really just "replacement planning" or an opportunity to review and renew? If succession planning was treated like strategic succession management, there would be clear criteria for successful programs and accountability measures for senior management and trustees.

Thursday, Dec. 7, 3-4pm ET (12-1pm PT)-Part of the STRATEGIC CONVERSATIONS WITH LEADERS Series
BQ Wit and Wisdom: Insights for Info Pros
with Barbara Quint - 1 hour AUDIO CONFERENCE

Prompted by the book edited a few years ago by Marylaine Block, The Quintessential Searcher: The Wit & Wisdom of Barbara Quint, this session features a fun and revealing interview with one of the information industry's icons -- Barbara Quint. Her wit and wisdom along with her insights and leading edge ideas are front and center during this interesting and illuminating talk.
