Librarian - Term Position
Leave of Absence- February 2006 February 2007 - Hants East Area
Part-time 17.5 hours per week, 10 months Competition # 06-04-42
Reporting to the Library Services Manager and the School Principal(s),
the Librarian will be responsible for organizing, planning and managing
the School Library within designated schools. A job description is

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master of Library Science from an accredited library school.
Additional Assets:·
- Professional experience in a library setting;
- Ability to apply in-depth subject knowledge acquired at the
undergraduate level of education;
- Ability to model for students and staff, strategies for locating,
assessing and evaluating information
- Knowledge of literature for children and/or young adults;
- Experience modeling strategies for locating, assessing and evaluating
information within and beyond the school library;
- Demonstrated ability to create a functioning learning environment;
- Ability to plan creatively and cooperatively for the continuing
development of library service at the local and regional level;
- Experience and enthusiasm for working with children and/or young
adults;
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
- Ability to perform multi-tasks with accuracy and efficiency;
- Effective interaction with all staff and students;
- Ability to effectively lead a team as wells as work as a team player
and provide support as required;
- Ability to work independently in a position of trust.
In addition, the employer will select the most qualified candidate as
per the requirements of the collective agreement, which set out that
"selection shall be made upon the objective criteria of experience, job
performance, ability, qualification and attitude". Applicants who are to

Salary: As per NSGEU Contract: Starting Rate $22.87 to $25.41 per hour
