Nova Scotia Community College is at a pivotal time in our history. The College has launched a comprehensive development plan made possible by a landmark investment from the Province of Nova Scotia. As a result, our campuses have experienced some dramatic changes. Vibrant new learning spaces are already filled with NSCC students enjoying the enhanced facilities - and more excitement is coming as major construction projects head toward the finish line. In addition to renovating and/or expanding several sites, NSCC, already recognized as Canada's Portfolio College, is implementing an innovative learning-centred model.
The School of Business welcomes applications from dynamic and engaging candidates who:
*Possess a Masters degree from an ALA accredited library studies program, or a library technician diploma combined with the knowledge of library computer applications. A background in cataloguing, including AACR2R, LCSH, LCC, and Dewey Classification would be considered an asset.
*Possess relevant industry experience (a minimum of five years) and knowledge, enabling them to provide learning experiences that mirror current practices in their field.
*Demonstrate excellence in, and passion for, student learning, teaching, and helping others to succeed;
*Use innovative and active approaches to teaching, with technology as a tool to assist in learning. Courses may be delivered via classroom and/or online. Experience with online learning systems and alternate delivery formats would be an asset;
*Demonstrate a commitment to lifelong learning and to personal and professional growth;
*Demonstrate a commitment to the community college philosophy and to the growth and improvement of NSCC
*Have knowledge of the concepts of Portfolio Education
Included in the role of a faculty are learner performance support and evaluation, curriculum development and maintenance, facilitation of student field placements, and maintenance of strong relationships with industry groups and knowledge of trends in their respective disciplines. Faculty may be called upon to develop and deliver customized training, part-time studies or on-line courses, to participate in program promotional activities and to assist in growing and improving business programs. You will keep current in your discipline and area of instruction.
