"Information Architecture"
with Mike Crandall
________________________
As the volume of information and data increase at an exponential pace,
more and more organizations are facing the issue of how to connect their
users with content that is needed to achieve the objectives of the
organization. In recent years, the discipline of Information
Architecture has grown in response to the need to codify the body of
practices and theory involved in this work. Ranging from analysis of
user and stakeholder requirements to the nuts and bolts of designing
taxonomies and search systems, IA has become a key component in the
design of small and large information systems. Take a brief look at
where IA fits in the organization and some of the primary functions that
information architects (IAs) perform through the use of case studies. A
brief examination of the costs and benefits of using IA in an
organization is discussed, along with resources for further
exploration.
