Duties:
Under the general supervision of the Records Analyst and reporting to
the Records Manager, the Records Clerk is responsible for accurately
classifying records; physically creating new records and
retrieving/filing records; creating and updating related databases;
implementing the STAR/STOR system on active records; consulting with
departmental staff on records management practices, procedures, and
issues, and training other staff in records classification and proper
disposition. Ultimately, the Records Technician assists the Department
in fulfilling the requirements of provincial records management related
standards and policies, and the statutory requirements of the Government
Records Act. This position occasionally provides back-up for the
receptionist as required.
Qualifications:
Grade 11 plus three years experience or equivalent combination of
training and experience. A diploma or certificate in a related field,
such as information management, records management, library or archives
would be considered an asset. Must be familiar with STAR/STOR records
management system, indexing and cross-referencing, and other records
management procedures. Excellent typing skills and proficiency in
WordPerfect, Windows, and the ability to maintain security and
confidentiality of information. Communication skills and a demonstrated
ability to exercise independence and to act decisively are assets.
Salary Range: $15.67 - $17.05/hr.
