In cooperation with the Canadian Space Agency, CLA has created “Launch
Your Future with Reading!”, including contests and other material to
encourage Canadian children to visit their public library to read and
write about space and adventure.
The attached media release provides more information, and details of the
contests in both English and French are also attached. The
French-language version of the media release will be available soon.
The contest information is also available on our Website at www.cla.ca
Other aspects of the project are:
* the Canadian Space Agency has sent 500 libraries across Canada
promotional material on the space flight, STS-115;
* an event on Parliament Hill to make MPs aware of the role public
libraries play in encouraging children to read is being worked on; and
* an electronic library of space-related materials for children is being
developed. The space e-library is to be launched in October as part of
Canadian Library Month.
