Holland College is seeking a highly motivated LIBRARIAN to provide
information services to students and staff at the Atlantic Police
Academy (APA) (located in Slemon Park, Summerside, PE).  This
competition may also be used to fill future term positions.            


Reporting to the College Librarian, the Librarian will provide the
daily operational requirements of the library; provide circulation
services to the client group; provide reference services using a variety
of data sources (print, multimedia, online) and media; assist clients
with data searching techniques; interpret and apply college-wide library
services policies; design and deliver information skills instructional
programs to support APA's curriculum; assist instructors with
collection development and gap analysis; market library services to the
user group; design evaluative measures for library services; and hire,
train and supervise library assistants.

Candidates must possess a Master's degree in Library/Information
Science and have a minimum of one                year's experience,
preferably in an academic or law library.  Strong research abilities as
well as knowledge of integrated library systems, information science
techniques and trends, and Canadian copyright legislation (in a
post-secondary academic environment) are required.  A positive client
services perspective and superior administrative, organizational,
analytical and interpersonal skills are essential.  Knowledge of police
science, law enforcement trends, criminal law, legislative developments,
government documents and bilingual capability will also be considered
assets.
