On April 7th the Nova Scotia Provincial Library will host a College of
DuPage satellite teleconference on "Serving Immigrant Populations: A
Library Prototype for Diversity".  This is the final teleconference in
the Soaring to Excellence 2006 series.  This teleconference begins with
a look at the history of immigrants and libraries, and examines how to
assess the needs of your community's immigrant population, including
English as a Second Language materials, legal issues, work issues, and
bi-lingual library resources.  Bill Erbes, Assistant Director of the
Bensenville Community Public Library District, Bensenville, Illinois
will head a panel of experts.

Following the broadcast, Alexandra McCallum, Executive Director of the
Multicultural Association of Nova Scotia (MANS) will give a presentation
on resources developed by the Association including the Multicultural
Trails website, a resource created by MANS to explore the multicultural
diversity of Nova Scotia.
