Madeleine Lefebvre, Visitor-in-Residence, 13-24 March 2006, School of
Information Management, Dalhousie University
Madeleine Lefebvre is a member of the CLA President?s Council on the 8rs
Study, and has begun research into the issue of foreign LIS credentials
recognition. She is currently looking at Canadian, American and British
policies and practice, and hopes to expand her research to Australia, New
Zealand, and South African practice. Foreign credentials research will be
Madeleine?s focus during her time at SIM as Visitor-in-Residence. She will
also meet with members of the School over lunch in the SIM Common Room on March
15 at 11:45.
Madeleine Lefebvre, President of the Canadian Library Association for 2003-2004,
has been University Librarian at Saint Mary?s University in Halifax, since
1999. She holds Master?s degrees in Classics from the University of Edinburgh
and the University of Alberta, where she also attained her MLS. She is a Fellow
of the U.K.?s Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals,
and an Associate of the Australian Library and Information Association.
Madeleine is well known as a professional partner, speaker, and employer of
students. She is the editor of The Romance of Libraries, Scarecrow Press, 2006.
