The Nova Scotia Provincial Library will be hosting a satellite
teleconference from the College of DuPage on "Library Management Hot
Topics: A Roundtable Discussion with Experienced Library Managers" on
March 10th. This is part of the Library Challenges & Opportunities
series with moderator Richard Dougherty. Based on numerous requests and
positive reaction to the roundtable format used last spring, this
program will bring together experienced library managers, leaders in
their field, to discuss a series of management-related issues. Both
large and small, academic and public libraries will be represented.
Viewer-suggested topics include: roles of support staff in libraries,
team-building when the director won't lead, library recruiting,
keeping staff motivated, disaster planning, and strategies for working
with faculty.
Panelists:
Jane Light, Director of the San Jose Public Library System. She is a
recipient of the Public Library Association's Charlie Robinson Award
and has directed two libraries, San Jose and Redwood City, that have
been recognized by Library Journal as Library of the Year.
Susan Nutter, Vice Provost and Director of Libraries at North Carolina
State University. She has served on many boards and is a past President
of the Association of Research Libraries and past Chairman of the
Southeastern Library Network, Inc. Board of Directors.
W. Lee Hisle, Vice President for Information Services and Librarian at
Connecticut College. He is a past President of the Association of
College and Research Libraries and is Treasurer of NELINET, the New
England regional network for OCLC.
