Position: Manager of Acquisition Services
Department: Patrick Power Library/Acquisition Services
Salary: $41,771 - $53,143
The Patrick Power Library seeks a Manager of Acquisition Services for our
highly motivated and experienced team.Under the direction of the
University Librarian, the Manager of Acquisition Services manages a
collections budget of over $1m and supervises six full-time staff as well
as part-time staff and short-term student employees. The position oversees
the procurement of all library materials, including monographs, standing
orders, serial subscriptions and electronic data for the collection.
The successful candidate will demonstrate vision, an ability to anticipate
needs and respond, an ability to manage staff and effectively deal with
staff issues, and a proven record of building and maintaining positive
working relationships in a fast paced, team-oriented environment. The
position is expected to provide direction in the following areas:
· Acquisitions Management: Manages the library materials budget; maintains
financial records; performs data gathering and analysis; prepares reports;
authorizes acquisitions; advises the University Librarian and liaises with
professional librarians on consortial licenses and electronic database
purchases, and acquisitions practices and policies.
· Automated Systems: Implements and co-ordinates the operation of
automated acquisitions and serials modules within an integrated library
system; represents the University's interests in the planning, development
and operation of the integrated library system of the Novanet consortium.
Requirements
University degree in commerce or equivalent
Minimum three years directly related experience
Demonstrated supervisory experience
Strong communication skills, computer skills and organizational skills
Ability to work in fast-paced, team oriented environment and meet
deadlines.
