Reference & Liaison Librarian, Sexton Design & Technology Library
The Sexton Design & Technology Library invites applications for the
probationary tenure track position of Reference & Liaison Librarian. The
Sexton Library serves the Dalhousie Faculties of Engineering and
Architecture & Planning as well as the local affiliated professional

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Reporting to the Sexton Library Head of Public Services the successful
candidate will provide reference services for Engineering, Architecture and
Planning. The incumbent will participate in the Library's information
literacy program, including group instruction, class lectures, and
workshops. He/she will collaborate with faculty to develop and deliver an
integrated information literacy program. As a librarian subject specialist
for several disciplines, he/she will manage the acquisitions budgets for
those disciplines; develop access to appropriate resources in support of
academic programs; communicate regularly with faculty members to ensure a
library presence in program curricula; and advise students and faculty
regarding their research. The incumbent will be the primary contact for
TLRS, our fee based service for industry and the professions.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
MLIS from an ALA-accredited program; reference and/or teaching experience;
academic background or work experience in architecture, planning,
engineering or related discipline; experience with educational and library
technologies.
Effective public speaking, teaching and presentation skills. Superior
skills with Microsoft Office suite and other personal productivity tools.

commitment to excellent public service; and must be eager to assume the
energetic pace of regular interaction with students, faculty and
professionals.
AVAILABILITY:
Position available November 1, 2005. Appointment will be at the rank of
Librarian I ($37,963 42,460) or Librarian II ($42,460 52,882). It is a
probationary tenure track appointment. Librarians are members of the
Dalhousie Faculty Association.
