On October 3rd the Nova Scotia Provincial Library will be hosting an audio conference from The Education Institute of theThe Partnership of Canadian library associations on "Library Services to the St'at'imc Nation" with Sheila Pfeifer, Chief Librarian of the Lillooet Public Library. This teleconference will focus on successful strategies used by the Lillooet Public Library staff and board for over a decade, as they developed library services for the St'at'imc Nation in the interior of British Columbia.
Participants in this session will learn about:
The importance of building trust and long-term relationships with Aboriginal community members and organizations
Developing a First Nations collection
Delivering programs to Aboriginal communities, both on and off reserve
Who Should Participate?
While Sheila will focus on the delivery of library services to First Nations communities in the interior of British Columbia, the strategies presented will be relevant to public library staff and trustees in both rural and urban settings anywhere in Canada, as well as anyone interested in successful collaborations with Aboriginal people and communities.

Sheila Pfeifer has played a leading role in the development of the Lillooet Learning Communities Society, serves on the board of the Lillooet Indian Friendship Centre and is a lifetime member of the Upper St'at'imc Culture, Education and Language Society. She is a frequently sought-after speaker at provincial, national and international conferences and workshops.
