The Nova Scotia Provincial Library will host an audio conference in the Strategic Conversations with Leaders Series on "Key Practices in Developing Managers and Leaders" on May 19th. The speaker will be Ernie Ingles, Chief Librarian, University of Alberta. A librarian and educator who is the guiding force behind the Northern Leadership Insitute, Ernie Ingles provides some interesting insights and tips for developing managers and leaders in the information profession. He talks about what he calls "curiosity socialization" and the need to develop beyond our task orientation into intuitively curious individuals with behaviours and thought patterns that support out of the box thinking and solutions. He suggests some key practices for making this happen. In addition, he addresses innovation management and demographics along with their impact in the information profession. Filled with real world examples and tips for fostering innovation and curiosity, this is a must-listen-to presentation.
