Part 4 of the Rural Librarianship teleconference series will be hosted at the Nova Scotia Provincial Library on May 17th when Bernard Vavrek covers the Basics of Writing a Grant Proposal. Budget woes are universal in the culture sector, but smaller institutions in rural areas may feel this more keenly than large urban library systems. This program will provide instruction on how to find and write successful grant applications.

Who should attend?
- Library and information staff in rural and small libraries.
- Trustees and board members in small library systems.
- Those who have little prior experience with writing grant proposals, or who want to improve their grant proposal writing skills.
Teleconference leader:
Bernard Vavrek is Professor of Library Science and Director of the Center for the Study of Rural Librarianship at Clarion University of Pennsylvania. He is also chairman elect of the Department of Library Science. His MLS and PhD are from the University of Pittsburgh, where he taught prior to moving to Clarion.
Bernard's teaching responsibilities include: rural library services, public access computing, marketing, research, and reference resources. He has written over 50 articles for the library press and conducted numerous national research projects dealing with rural library services and the impact of the public library.
This is a Continuing Professional Development program of the Canadian Library Association.
