Dear FAB,

At the FAB Business meeting in Sydney in November, Hilde Lindemann
presented a proposal from Indiana University Press to support a
Feminist Bioethics Journal with  editorial links to FAB. After
discussion there was agreement to continue to investigate the proposal
through a steering committee appointed by the Co-coordinators.

I am pleased to be able to name the Committee and its mandate.

The  Journal Steering Committee:
Francoise Baylis- Chair
Hilde Lindemann
Toby Schonfeld
Carolyn McLeod

The mandate of the Journal Steering Committee is to investigate the
feasibility of the journal proposal and, if feasible:
*  to negotiate with IUP (or other publishers) regarding the next stage
of development
* to seek clarity re: level of FAB and other institutional support
needed to get the journal off the ground
* to propose the "mission" and scope of the journal
* to identify an initial editor and editorial board and potential
administrative home for the journal
* to ensure regular communications with (and final report to) FAB Board

This is a very promising development for FAB and I wish the committee
well in pursuing the proposal.
