OCLC Canada Library Technical Services invites applications for two
full-time Cataloguer I/II positions. OCLC Canada, a division of OCLC
Online Computer Library Center Inc., is an innovative, high-tech library

cooperation between libraries and serves over 950 libraries in Canada.
Library Technical Services, located in Winnipeg, provides custom
cataloguing and processing services to a variety of Canadian libraries.

You will:
Perform copy and original cataloguing according to current cataloguing
rules and library specifications, of library materials and electronic
resources in English and at least one non-English language
Use your educational background and professional judgment to
expeditiously and effectively solve cataloguing problems
Be flexible in switching between work assignments for multiple clients
as the need arises
Occasionally assist in the training of new cataloguers
Work courteously and effectively with colleagues and staff within the
office and throughout the organization
Qualifications:
MLS degree from an accredited library school OR an undergraduate
degree plus a Library Technician Diploma
Theoretical knowledge of current cataloguing practices, principles,
and MARC formats
Reading knowledge of at least one non-English language
Ability to work effectively with colleagues; demonstrated verbal and
written communication skills
Good interpersonal relationship skills are essential
Highly Desirable:
Subject specialization in any science area or in music (with the
ability to read music)
Experience cataloguing to current cataloguing rules (AACR2/LCRI, LCSH,
SCM, MARC21, LCC and/or DDC21/22)
Working experience with Catalogers Desktop, Classification Web and/or
WebDewey, and at least one of the OCLC cataloguing tools (Passport,
CatME, or Connexion).
Working experience with Microsoft Office (especially Outlook, Excel,
Word); familiarity with Access an asset
Basic Windows file and directory management skills
Excellent keyboarding skills
This full-time position is available immediately. It will be filled at
the Cataloguer I or II level dependant upon qualifications and
