Choosing and Using Business and Investment-related Web Resources
Presented by Denise Bisson
Are you a reference library staff trying to help patrons find business and
investment information? Are you a small business owner or entrepreneur
trying to find good quality, reliable web resources for your specific
interests? We will cover top resources that you can use with confidence.
COURSE DESCRIPTION
Designed for general librarians and business professionals without an
extensive business searching background, this course will review the top
tools for finding good quality and (mainly) free business information
resources on the web. A new topic will be introduced each week of this
six-week program, together with the key resources plus exercises for
searching these resources effectively.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND
This course is for you if you search for (or help others search for)
business or investment information. You should have some previous experience
searching the web and be interested in expanding your knowledge of good web
resources and related tools suitable for this discipline.
METHOD OF INSTRUCTION
Each week, you'll receive an email with the lesson for that week, plus
practice exercises that will help you work through the week's sources and
reinforce your learning. A web-based bulletin board will enable you and
other participants to ask question of the instructor and to provide on-line
feedback about problems incurred. The course will include a teleconference
call with you and your fellow participants, hosted by the instructor, to
give advice and clarify the learning experience.
HOW YOU WILL BENEFIT
Participants will get a highly relevant set of web resources plus tips and
tricks for finding information fast. If you search for good quality
business, company and industry information, or if you provide assistance to
others seeking business-related information, you'll benefit from this high
