Hello Everyone:
Just a reminder about the Professional Partnering program at the School
of Library and Information Studies at Dalhousie. Thanks to everyone who
has agreed to participate this year. This is a program that the
students at the school really like; it is one of few ways that they can
spend time informally with a future colleague in the library community.
We do need more professional participants, so please have a look at my
original message below, and give some consideration to becoming a
partner.
Thanks,
Michael
Hello Everyone:
The Dalhousie SLIS Professional Partnering Program is about to enter
its third year. The Program matches SLIS students with professional
librarians. It is a very unstructured program and each pair works out
their own activities. In the previous years, joint activities have
included meeting for coffee and sharing ideas about careers and course
selection, job shadowing, attending meetings together, tours of
libraries, and attending library events and workshops together.
The number of SLIS students interested in participating in the program
more than doubled last year, which I think is an indication of how
valuable they see this type of connection with the professional
library
community.
Spending time with SLIS students can be a rewarding experience. It is
always useful to keep in touch with what new librarians are thinking
and
learning, and to see the attitudes and interests they will be bringing
to the workplace.
For more information on the program, and a registration form, please

I hope you will consider becoming a Professional Partner this year.
Michael
