Hello everyone!
It was wonderful to meet so many of you at the 2004 APLA Conference. I would like
to take this opportunity to mention one item of business which was resolved at the
concurrent 65th Ordinary General Meeting, which may affect many new or renewing
members. This is the change to the membership year. We are pleased to announce
that the motion proposed by Shelly Gullikson, VP-Membership for 2003-4, in the last
APLA Bulletin, to change the structure of the membership year so that members
could join at any time and get a full 12 months for their membership, rather than
having the membership year run according to the fiscal year of the Association,
passed. Previously, you could join at any time, but your membership term only ran
until the end of APLA's fiscal year, so you might get fewer than 12 months for a new
membership, or a membership renewed late. Now, the membership year runs a full
12 months from whenever you sign up! Please communicate this news to any of
your colleagues who might be thinking of joining the Association, but who might have
been deterred by the earlier structure. Thank you!
