The Soaring to Excellence 2004 series "Toolkits for Advancing Your
Career" produced by the College of DuPage, Glen Ellyn Illinois will
continue at the Provincial Library with the broadcast of the third
teleconference "A Professional Toolkit: Skills for Advancement" on
March 26th. Topics include mentoring, creating professional portfolios,
career ladders, professional organizations and meetings, and information
about the American Library Association's current initiatives
concerning library support staff.
Following the live broadcast at the Provincial Library, we will hear
from two local members of the library community who will speak about
their organizations' involvement with mentoring or partnering
programs. Elizabeth Millar, a student at the Dalhousie University
School of Library and Information Studies and president of the CLA
Student Chapter will talk about the professional partnering program at
the school. Erica Smith, president of the Nova Scotia Library
Association will talk about NSLA's interest in becoming involved with
a mentoring or partnering program for library technicians.
Details for the teleconference:
- Date: Friday, March 26, 2004, 1 pm - 4 pm.
- Place: Nova Scotia Provincial Library (Classroom), 3770 Kempt Road,
- Admission is free.
- Registration will be on a first come first serve basis to a maximum
of fifty people.
- Limited parking is available in front of the building.
