Just a reminder of the CLA focus group that is planned for January 6th
in Halifax.  Sorry for cross posting!

As a member of the Canadian Library Association, your views on what
CLA
should be doing on your behalf is critical to the success of the
organization.

To ensure that our 2004 activities meet your needs, CLA will be
surveying all members early in the year. But to be sure we are asking
the right questions and to get your ideas, we are running a focus
group
in Halifax to help us build the survey instrument and provide other
opinions.

Date:           January 6, 2004

Time:           6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Who is eligible to participate:
Individual members only (institutional members are being involved in
separate research); not currently member of Executive Council

To make the research as valid as possible given our budget, we are
going to try to ensure a broad range of members are participating in
the
focus groups.

Please supply the following information.

(1) CLA wants to achieve a representative balance of practice
settings:
        * special libraries
        * public libraries
        * academic libraries
        * school libraries
        * library consultants
so please let us know your primary practice setting.

MY PRIMARY PRACTICE SETTING IS:

(2) CLA wants to achieve a representative balance of membership:
librarians vs. trustees, so please let us know your primary role.

(3) CLA wants to achieve a representative balance of experience in
practice

        * Five to 15 years' experience (future leaders)
        * 15 plus years' experience (current leaders)

volunteers
versus non-volunteers, so please identify if you are a volunteer on a
CLA committee, interest group or Division.
