REGIONAL LIBRARIAN


        The Cape Breton Regional Library Board is seeking a service-oriented
individual to fill
the position of Regional Librarian.

        Headquartered in Sydney, N.S., the Regional Library serves a population of
120,000
living in Victoria and Cape Breton Counties.  The Library has a system
consisting of 13 branches
and 2 bookmobiles.  More information about the Library can be found at its

Position

        The Regional Librarian acts as chief administrative officer and Secretary
to the Library
Board and is responsible for budget development, long-term planning, human
resources
management, statistical analysis, implementation of policy as well as all
aspects of day-to-day
management of the McConnell Library in Sydney.

Requirements

        This position requires strong organizational, problem solving,
interpersonal and
communication skills.  Demonstrated administrative and leadership experience
is desired.
Knowledge of, and experience with, information services technology is
necessary.  Candidates
must possess an ALA accredited Masters Degree in Library Science and at
least 5 years of
relevant and satisfactory experience including at least 3 years at a
supervisory level and relevant
experience in financial management.
