Queen Elizabeth II Library
QUALIFICATIONS:
The Queen Elizabeth II Library is seeking an energetic, innovative,
outgoing individual with a commitment to academic librarianship and the
flexibility to enjoy a changing environment of practice. The successful
candidate will have an ALA accredited graduate degree, the ability to
communicate effectively, demonstrated or potential competency in
librarianship, and a strong service philosophy. A background in library
instruction is required. Experience in an academic reference setting
would be a definite asset.
DESCRIPTION:
The position involves reference duties and library instruction. The
successful candidate will act as co-coordinator of the library
instruction program in the Queen Elizabeth II Library. Collection
development in an area of competence is a possibility. Some evening and
weekend work is required.
The Queen Elizabeth II Library is the central library of a highly
centralized library system serving Memorial University of Newfoundland.
The Information Services Division provides reference and instruction to
patrons of the Library. The central reference desk assists students,
faculty, staff and the general public with over 38,000 reference queries
annually. As well, the Division conducts classes in library research,
mediates online searches, and maintains a reference collection of some

BENEFITS:
An appointment at the rank of Librarian I or II is anticipated. Based on
experience and qualifications, minimum salaries are $37,667 and $43,543
respectively. Memorial offers standard academic benefits including
