Outstanding Alumni Award
The Associated Alumni Committee of the Dalhousie School of Library and
Information Studies is pleased to announce the Outstanding Alumni Award
for 2003. The selection Committee will be accepting nominations for this
year's award until June 1, 2003.
The "Outstanding Alumni Award" is to honour a member of the Associated
Alumni of the School of Library and Information Studies, Dalhousie
University (DALSLIS), who has made an outstanding contribution to Library
and Information Studies.
i) The Award will be given every two years, starting in the year 2000
(revised to every year starting in the year 2003)
ii) In choosing the recipient, the Selection Committee will consider the
a) participation at a responsible level in the library and/or information
b) research and/or publication record;
c) innovation or leadership in the library and/or information management
d) service to library, information management and related professional
e) service to the community at large;
f) enthusiasm, commitment and dedication to the profession and information
i) A member of the Associated Alumni with all rights of full membership
(any person who has received a Master of Library Service [MLS] or Master
of Library and Information Studies [MLIS] degree from Dalhousie
ii) Associate members as defined in the Associated Alumni Constitution:
a) any person who has been registered for one year or more as a full-time
student at the Dalhousie School of Library and Information Studies and is
not in regular attendance as a full-time or part-time student at the
b) any person who, in recognition of contributions to the library
profession, has received an honorary degree from Dalhousie University;
c) any person currently or previously employed on the faculty of the
Dalhousie School of Library and Information Studies;
d) any other person so designated by a majority vote of the Associated
iii) The Award may be given posthumously.
iv) The Award will not be given more than once to the same person.
4. Nomination/Selection Procedures
- Nominations may be submitted by any member of the Associated Alumni.
- All nominations must be submitted in writing and must include the
following information: complete name and address of the nominee; statement
outlining the nominee's achievements; and the name and address of the
person making the nomination.
- Nominations may be submitted by mail, e-mail or fax addressed to the
Selection Committee, Outstanding Alumni Award in care of DALSLIS
School of Library & Information Studies
Faculty of Management
