The University of New Brunswick invites applications for 2 positions
in the Ward Chipman Library on the Saint John Campus.
1) User Services Librarian
The Library is seeking a service-oriented individual with a commitment
to user success who can provide a full range of reference services to
undergraduate and graduate students as well as faculty. Position
responsibilities include: providing general reference and information
services using print and electronic resources; serving as a subject
consultant to academic departments; participating in collection
development; assisting with the planning, creation and implementation
of reference and user access services; and assisting in an active
bibliographic instruction program. The successful candidate will also
participate in appropriate library, university and professional
activities.
Qualifications: Masters degree in library or information science from
an ALA accredited institution is required. The successful candidate
must have: excellent working knowledge of print and electronic
information resources; strong service orientation, interpersonal
skills and the ability to relate well to various constituencies,
including students, faculty, general public and co- workers. Effective
communication skills are required. Must be able to work some evenings
and weekends. Reference experience in an academic setting would be an
asset.
Salary and Rank: This is a full-time continuous appointment track
position, to be filled at the rank of Librarian I-II. The salary
range is $38,259 - $56,217. Librarians are members of the Association
of University of New Brunswick Teachers. Excellent benefits,
including a moving allowance and annual professional development
allowance.
2) Information Access Librarian
The Library is seeking a knowledgeable and dynamic individual who will
provide leadership in the organization of information and access to
the Library’s collections. The responsibilities of this position
include: management of library collections; participating in the
development of emerging services; overseeing the activities of the
technical services staff; coordinating the acquisitions of electronic
resources; assisting in the management of the library materials
budget; and, participating in reference services. Other
responsibilities include: general collections development and taking
part in library instruction programs. The successful candidate will
also participate in appropriate library, university and professional
activities.
Qualifications: Masters degree in library or information science from
an ALA accredited institution is required. The successful candidate
must have: excellent interpersonal skills, a strong service
orientation, effective communication skills, and the ability to work
effectively with students, faculty, general public and co-workers.
Knowledge of current technical services, collection management and
electronic licensing issues is preferred. Experience with budget
management is desirable. Reference experience in an academic library
is an asset.

The Saint John campus of the University of New Brunswick, located in
Tucker Park overlooking the beautiful Kennebecasis River Valley, is a
expanding campus which serves a population of over 2,600 full-time and
part-time students. The Library, with a staff of 5 professional
librarians and 13 support staff, is part of a combined unit,
Information Services & Systems, which also includes Instructional
Technology and Integrated Technology Services. The Library strives to
