"National Security and The Hidden Architecture of Information Control"

Governments around the world have restricted access to information since
September 11. But deeper forces were working against open government in
Canada and abroad well before the terror attacks. Defence and intelligence
integration is reinforcing state secrecy in problematic but
largely unobserved ways.

Dr. Roberts is the Director of the Campbell Public Affairs Institute and
Associate Professor in the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public
Affairs at Syracuse University. Prior to his recent appointment at
Syracuse, he was a faculty member in the School of Policy Studies, at
Queen's University. He holds a BA (Political Studies) from Queen's, a JD
from the University of Toronto Law School, a Master of Public Policy from
the Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University, and PhD in public
policy also from Harvard. Dr. Roberts is a noted speaker on the topic of
access to information, and has been widely cited in national and
international media.
