On Thursday, January 30th, the Library and Archives of Canada successfully
launched their new Virtual Reference Canada (VRC) service.
VRC is a free, innovative and bilingual network of libraries, archives,
museums, information centres and research institutions that delivers
professional online reference services to Canadians.
Approximately 250 people attended the event at the Ontario Library
Association (OLA) Super Conference, in Toronto. Dr. Roch Carrier, National
Librarian and Ian Wilson, National Archivist, introduced the Virtual
Reference Canada (VRC) initiative, while Franceen Gaudet and her team
provided a brief overview, along with a live demonstration of the
application.

Le jeudi 30 janvier marqua le lancement officiel de Référence virtuelle
Canada (RVC), nouvelle réussite pour la Bibliothèque et les Archives du
Canada. RVC est un réseau gratuit, bilingue et novateur de bibliothèques,
de dépôts d'archives, de musées, de centres d'information et
d'établissements de recherche qui offre des services de référence
professionnels à toutes les Canadiennes et tous les Canadiens.
Environ 250 congressistes ont assisté à l'inauguration de RVC lors du
congrès de l'Ontario Library Association Super Conference à Toronto.
Monsieur Roch Carrier, Administrateur général de la Bibliothèque nationale
du Canada, et Monsieur Ian Wilson, Archiviste national du Canada, ont
présenté le nouveau service et Franceen Gaudet et son équipe ont fourni un
survol et procédé à une démonstration du logiciel.
