Time Management: Getting Things Done (Soaring to Excellence 2003 - Teleconference)
(Teleconference broadcast from College of DuPage, Glen Ellyn, IL. Hosted locally by CASLIS Atlantic Canada Chapter and the Nova Scotia Provincial Library)
All of us are feeling overloaded at work, and we think we can extend the day beyond 24 hours or save time in a bottle. Please join the Canadian Association of Special Libraries and Information Services (CASLIS) Atlantic Canada Chapter and the Nova Scotia Provincial Library, Friday, January 24, 2003, 1 pm - 4 pm, in the Classroom at the Provincial Library, as we explore the issue of time management. This session will feature a live broadcast via satellite from College of DuPage, IT Office of Special Services, Glen Ellyn, IL, in which speaker Debra Wilcox Johnson, Johnson & Johnson Consulting-Wisconsin, will describe practical techniques for managing work load and offer a wide range of suggestions for more effective use of time. She will explain strategies for negotiating deadlines and work assignments, being more realistic about the time available, and maintaining a balance between work and home. Participants will have the chance to fax or phone in their questions during the session.
Following the broadcast local participants will have the opportunity to show their time management skills during a fun and challenging hands on activity. Next Penny Logan, Manager Library Services, Capital District Health Authority will start off a group discussion with examples of her strategies and best practices for effective time management.
