{ SEQ CHAPTER \h \r 1}DUTIES: Reporting to the Librarian, Bibliographic Services,
this is one of three positions which catalogue and classify print
and non-print materials; adding to and maintaining a directory of
all resources in the Library. The Library Assistant ensures
entries are consistent with past practice in the Library, with the
Novanet consortium parameters, the National Library of
Canada, the Library of Congress and the Anglo-American
Cataloguing Rules. The Library Assistant also participates in
Novanet when delegated or requested and assists with the
maintenance of the Library web site. Other related duties may
be required.
{ SEQ CHAPTER \h \r 1}QUALIFICATIONS: An undergraduate degree
complemented by a Library Technician Diploma is preferred,
although consideration will be given to candidates with either
credential. Applicants must have three years of relevant
experience, a solid knowledge of Cataloguing rules and
standards, MARC coding, Geac Advance or similar integrated
library system, and web page editing. Extreme accuracy and
attention to detail are essential in this position.
